I have been using Sidekick 2.0, believe it or not, for years. I've just upgraded my PC to WME, where I receive the message "not enough memory", so have decided now is the time to upgrade.

From what I can read 98 is better than 99. However as Starfish no longer support this program I cannot find where I can get it from.

Any suggestions?

Dear DDD707,
You say that you get the Not enough memory does the message continue with: to run this program/Application, quit one or more of your programs and try again.
If that is the case, and the error message comes up after several hours of running the Computer and Sidekick, then it looks like WinME has the same memory management problem as Win98se.
If anyone else who has used used WinME with sidekick98 has other opinions would they please post
In that case, upgrading to Sidekick98 is not going to solve it, as the same thing happens with SK98.
There should be some copies of Sidekick98 on EBay if you wish to try it out on your system but I am afraid that Starfish no longer have any interest in it, they don't sell it and they don't support it!
It would be a good idea if Starfish started selling SK98 again, they would get quite a few customers as there appears to be no program around that can touch it and that includes Palm Desktop 4.1 (A very good program, though limited in comparison to SK98 and definitely in comparison to
Internet Sidekick97)

I suppose you could try that.

Many thanks for your quick response.

There is no continuation after "Not Enough Memory"

I have tried ebay for any version of the Sidekick, but have not found any.

Any other suggestions of where I may be able to download it?

Dear DDD707,
Let's persevere with Sidekick 2.0 for a bit as it is supposed to work even on WinXP.
I was just ruling out a situation that I have found which affects Win98 and as I have never run Sidekick on WinME I wasn't sure if the same affliction was present in WinME.
What you describe occurs too if you have had a crash with Sidekick when you had extracted Cards on a set of criteria and Sidekick crashes after you have created the Temporary/Undefined Cardfile.
Check out your Usedata Folder and see if you have an Untitled Cardfile, if you do then delete it and try to start Sidekick again.

Thanks again.

There are no Untitled Cardfiles in the Userdata or any of the Sidekick Folders.

I have tried re-installing it aswell but with the same result.

Many thanks Jim,

My original problem, I've now sorted. (Its a bit embarasing but I'd copied my files from a CD and they were "read only").

However many thanks for the link for a more up to date version, best version, of Sidekick to bring me into the 2000s, well 1998.

Seriously many thanks for the link.

One very happy user
David.
