Hi guys

I could not find this script by google. I just found a link

Is a text (not the direct link). I copy+paste into a text editor and save it as RTF. Then I deleted the extension and place jsx insted. Then moved to the Script Panel in Indesign CS3.

Supossely this Scrip will preserve the styles bold, italic of a word document. When i runned the script and i receive an error.

By the way, Eugene did explain how this script works a while ago. Where you able to work fine with it? Any recommendations when using it?

By the way, if anybody has the script could it send it by email?

Cheers,
Sebastian

It works brilliantly.

All I do with rtf's is

Place the RTF into a blank indesign file and export it out as rtf again (this just clears out any styles that aren't being used)

Then with the new RTF I place that into my layout. Once I have it in I select all the text. Thne I simply double click the script.

The script then creates and applies the character styles, like bold, italic, bold italic, superscript, subscript, etc., where appropriate.

It's one of the best scripts I have in my arsenal and I don't know what I'd do without it.

Thanks Appep for the link and the zipped file! and also Eugenetyson for how to use the script.

About the script: It is just Amazing!!!

What is the Subscript or Superscript styles for?

By the way Eugene, talking about powerful scripts that you use. Could you recommend others good scripts or send me a link to good website on this matter?

Thanks and cheers,
Sebastian

Check out Dave Saunders blog

He's the InDesign Scripting genius behind Preserve Local Formatting.

The superscript are the numbers or letters you see in text that reference to a footnote or an endnote in the document.

A subscript is a number or letter that sits lower than normal text at a smaller size, say for molecule references or something, like water - H20 is written with the 2 smaller and lower than the rest of the text.

The only script I use regularly and is important to me is the Smart Title Cases script.

For headlines you don't want conjunctions capitalised such as; and, to, the, etc., this script ignores those words when changing to Title Case.

Hi Eugene,

Thanks for Dave´s web! A lot of interesting stuff.

I see about the subscripts and superscripts.

I will search for the Smart Title Cases that you mention.

Thanks again for replying so fast!

Cheers,
Sebastian

To add to that;

If you opne the script in a text editor, like notepad or textedit, (not Word or a word processing program) you can add in your own words to the list of words that it ignores.

Thanks on that i will check with my Text Editor, then. Also for the Script on Titles!

Best,
S
