where can I find information on doing calculations etc in access, and what all the complex functions do? it's not covered well in most books, they look at simple queries. is there a good web resource? basically I need to set up some kind of online financial tracking system and do calculations - invoices in and out month by month etc. to pinpoint when we'll have cashflow problems.

Any ideas/suggestions greatly welcome!

thanks, neil

Neil,

The online help is good on detail, but you have to work at finding each one. One place to look is in the Expression Builder (see MS Access Help). In the lower left pane of the Expression Builder, click Functions then Built-In Functions. Then a listing of available access functions appears. The lower middle pane has the major function group and there is one group called Financial. When you click that, you can see the available financial functions, such as IRR and NPV. If a function is not available, you can usually write one without too much difficulty.
