Hello everyone.

I have just installed oracle on Linux for a test platform and wanted to know how difficult is it to move to FreeBSD 4.4.

Where can I find a recent document outlining the installation steps for oracle 8.1.7 for FreeBSD 4.4

Thank you all so much.

Sina

I don't think there is a version of Oracle for FreeBSD. I believe it is possible to run Oracle on FreeBSD using FreeBSD's Linux compatibility mode, but I'm not sure how easy it is. Theoretically, you should enable Linux compatibility mode, and just install as if you are on Linux, but I have heard it's not always that simple for heavy-duty software like databases.

Thank you all.

The problem seems to be the java part.
I do have the oracle installed and running on Linux. Had to install the JDK on linux and some minor changes, but here for freebsd, Thanks to axvpaa, I have the info about installing the oracle but it does not mention anything about the java problems or installations.

Thank you all.
Let me know if you find any thing else.

Thanks
