This may not help but for what its worth...

Yes. From the release of WinXP, to be able to use the Jave functions you'll
have to download the JVM engine from the Microsoft site or/and download the
Java engine from the Sun site for IE6 and later versions of the browser.
However, the beta releases of WinXP still have the Java functions
enabled...I didn't check the stand-alone version of IE6.
