Where can I download GNU for free ? 1

I have recently been reading a shell programming book and they advise that I download a version of GNU to run on my pc.

I went to GNU.org and can't find where to get the download from! Can anyone tell me where I can get it from ?

Paths would be great.

GNU what? GNU is a general term applied to thousands of different pieces of software. Exactly what is this book telling you to download?

What operating system is your PC running?

Sorry forgot to put down that I want to download - BASH

The book days a free version of this is available from

http://www.gnu.org.

It also says that you can install it on any PC you want regardless of the manufacture.

I am running Windows 95 on my PC.

Bash is not usually used in a Windows environment, since it was developed for Unix. It has been ported to Windows, but I don't know if it works exactly the same (I doubt it).
