I'm trying to remap a drive from our NW 5.0 server to our NT 4.0 server (due to running out of space on the NW server). Novell maps the M: drive to data that I'm moving to the NT server, but I can't find out how to stop Novell from mapping it. I was looking for a Scripts folder but what I found didn't have any drive mappings in it. I figure it has to be a script because adding a new user from scratch results in the Novell drives being mapped.

Can anyone help me stop Novell from taking M:?

Thanks,

Joe Brouillette

Have you checked all the container scripts and profile objects?

Also, are you sure the mapping isn't from an NT login script? Remember the users will have to authenticate to an NT Domain and could be picking the mapping up there.

On the Client I would set the close script window to off, and look for the mapping line in question. This should let you know when this is happening, and you can track from there.

Good Luck!

1) Container scripts & profile objects <--Huh? I'm not a Novell guy (yet) so you'll need to speak in a more layman-ish way so I'll understand.
2) NT script? <-- Nope, it's not in the NT script. Also, the mapping is still done even when I have the NT server off and a user logs in.
3) Close script windows <-- Was that to figure out if it's NT or Novell that is doing the mapping?

Does this tell you anything? If there were any "mapping scripts" running where would they be?

Thanks,

Joe Brouillette

If you look in NetWare Administrator, you will have the containers where all of your objects are stored in. If you right-click on the containers and select Details you have the option of looking at the container login script.

It will be in here that any drive mappings are likely to be made. -----------------------------------------------------

OK! Found it! Thanks very much. It's a more complicated script than I thought it was, but I will be able to make the necessary changes to it.

Thanks again,

Joe Brouillette

If not, post it and we can help. -----------------------------------------------------
