I've read a previous posting regarding this but I would like a clear answer regarding the minimize and restore toolbar buttons for a Word document in 2000-they're gone. Is this by design? I understand we can now access more than one open document via the task bar, so does this negate the need for the document minimize/restore buttons? Or is this an option someplace that can be turned on or off, I've looked everywhere! I do all the software support at my company and I do not like to give an incomplete answer, so I would greatly appreciate a definitive answer for this one. Thank you.

Yep, by design. Sucks, don't it? There is a template available that can change it, but it sucks too. I will even send it to you if you want, but I have never sent it to anyone that didn't agree that it sucked. Sorry for using "sucks" so often, but that's the blunt of it.

Definitive answer: by design; it's called single-document interface. It's explained here:
