Where are the default Shapesheet values coming from?

Dear all,

How can I find (and eradicate, or modify) the source of default values (indicated by non-blue entries) in my shapesheet?

Here is my bigger problem I am trying to solve:

While redefining a custom property set for some of my objects in Visio 2003 Professional, I find that some blank custom properties are picking up erroneous old values.

Investigating this, I find the "erroneous" values have been there all along, as these grey entries in my shapesheet. All "correct" values that I have entered in are shown in blue - but it looks like some historical values I entered in when developing my templates etc are still present in this "default" value for each field.

Now, I've checked both my "Custom Property Set" and my Master Shapes, and neither of them have this erroneous value - they both have blank fields for this property

Can anyone tell me where this default value might be coming from?

Do I understand that this is only for items that you have created??

Save as different name .. delete the original...re-create insuring the offending values are not present ...save

Therein lies the rub - I have made a LOT of these objects already, and cannot afford (timewise) to try to recreate each and every one of them.

I have only started to experience this problem now that I am modifying the "Custom Property Set" that applies to these objects - otherwise I would have happily redefined my default object as you have described.

So, now, my only real option is to surgically remove the offending value - from wherever it is coming from. Any ideas?

Tell you what - I might have some more success if I could just find a half decent set of webpages detailing the functionality of Visio's shapesheets and stencil-master/drawing-object relationships. I can't find any sites covering these areas. Do you know of any likely candidates on that front?
