I have been getting complaints about noise on the phone when the user increases volume to its maximum. In the test we took 2 7970 phones and called each other. When user A increases the volume to the maximum you hear like a "server room" humming noise in the background. This is only when the phone it at its maximum volume and if you step it down 2 positions it goes away. Any thought on what might be causing this? Also, is there any adjustment in gain that could be made within call manager or the phone itself to eliminate this.

Note: The callers are using the handset when this is done and it is also the same on speaker. More so on the handset. The user on the other end does not hear this noise, only the user adjusting his/her speaker hears it.

Any thoughts?

I'm not sure what might be causing that, but I did just check it out and confirm that I hear it as well. I was using a headset at the time, and what I found even more interesting was that when I ramped the volume up to 100% on the headset it started to bleed over into the speaker.

I remember reading a bug a week ago that dealt with the way audio is handled within the phone(more of a hardware issue, but the developers were able to tweak some internal gain settings) - have you tried the latest firmware?

I haven't tried the latest firmware, but will give it a shot!
