Does anyone know? I know it is in beta right now. Mike Wills

You can get OpenOffice, which is actually Staroffice 6.0, but since Staroffice has some proprietary bits in it and was not a true GPL type license Sun has ported Staroffice to a fully GPL compliant license and called it OpenOffice. You can get it at I got it, it works great!! And works just like Staroffice so I have no complaints. :) d3funct

The software required `Windows 95 or better', so I installed Linux.

Does it support printing yet? The last I knew, they were still working on that... Mike Wills

The whole thing is usable, I don't even think it's Beta anymore. I've used it with no problems. As far as printing goes there is a command "spadmin" which is basically a printer setup wizard. I haven't set up printing because I have no printer on this machine, and that will have to wait for another day. If you use "spadmin" let me know how it works for you. d3funct

Looks like I will have to give it a shot... I am trying to slowly turn away from Microsoft. The only problem is that the rest of the world makes it so hard. But thanks for letting me know. Mike Wills

Yeah, for some people it's like smoking. You know it's bad for you but peer pressure and pressure from the people who make it makes it hard to quit. I say do it like taking off a scab, rip it off quickly and it'll hurt less. :) d3funct

Yep, I saw that. And I also saw that currently they are looking to release it in the first half of next year. Mike Wills

I think StarOffice and OpenOffice are much the same. The difference is that StarOffice contains SUN proprietary code and cannot be a truly GPL'd app. So, Sun created OpenOffice with non-proprietary code in place of the old code and GPL'd it. That's the only difference as far as I know. d3funct
