When using UNC path, get slow response times when rgt clicking

Our environment is NT 4.0 workstation<br>
NT 4.0 Server in a PDC domain environment.<br>
<br>
When I open a folder that uses a unc path the folder will open quickly but whenever I right click on a file I get an hour glass for about 8 seconds. Very annoying. If I access the same file using a mapped drive it responds normally.<br>

Any help would be greatly appreciated ...<br>
