when to use the metal carriers and not ?

When is it required for you to use the metal carriers instead of the older style which required I think a clam shell when installing a Magix Processor in the older Plastic carriers > what is the reason behind the metal
carriers didn't it have to do with the introduction of the Magix Processor and Magix cards 412 , 024 ....? >
we are thinking of upgrading to Magix R4 ( now an older version Legend ) and hoping to keep the older style cards
408 MLX , DS1 , 012 T&R cards ......I am told the Legend / Magix is going away and no longer going to be supported by Avaya ? its such a work horse and we have had nothing but good things since we have had it ( knock on wood )

You don't need a metal carrier to install a Magix processor in a Legend - however you do need a "special" plastic Legend clamshell for it. It is best to buy the Magix processor with the special Legend clamshell. The Legend clamshell that fits Magix station and other cards will not work for the processor. If you have a Legend CKE4 processor - you can use the Magix R4 upgrade on it with no problems - so, depending on your Legend processor model - you may not even need to buy a new processor. Your listed Legend cards will work fine with the Magix R4 upgrade.

You may even be able to have your existing LEGEND processor "UPGRADED" to MAGIX, if it is a CKE4.

OR, you could "TRADE UP" your existing Processor to a CKE4 Magix R4, with only a couple of MINUTES downtime, if you find the right Dealer/Vendor.
