When to use packages

Hi,

Can somebody please tell me what are the advantages of packages in tcl. I understand that using packages one can define a piece of code that can be loaded whenever required. But is this the only advantage?
I'm using TCL since sometime and my automation framework is totally based on it. But I never required packages to be used. So I wanted to understand it's benefits so that may be I can improve my framework.

As far as I have been able to determine, packages are useful for distributions (as in Hume's Linear Algebra package). They are also a means to segregate scope, although that can be accomplished explicitly.
