When I try to search the internet either in yahoo, msn, or try to go to google.com it takes me to the same page and won't let me search at all. Even the search button in the tool bar won't let me search.
What do I need to do?

I ran spybot and adaware and it is still there, any other way to get rid of it, or to find where it is imbedded in my pc? But I definatly got hijacked.

WHAT is it? Can you paste up the address you're being taken to? (Or is it one of those you don't want to paste up...)

I am at work but will paste it tonight It is nothing offensive just annoying.

Thanks for your help.

Very good...in the meantime, you might want to see if yu can find the particular offender here:

This site provides excellent manual removal intructions. Also, were AdAware/SpyBot updated when you ran them? If not, be sure and update the definitions and try again.

May i suggest updating ad-aware and spybot ? a lot of people ( including me, meep!) often forget to update the damn thing and wonder why it's acting all funky.

Also, all depending on the platform you are in ( let's take a willdd guess and say windows ) check what processes are currently running, and kill anything that has no busyness being in memory ( including all the peer to peer crap that fiel sharing programs will stuff onto your computer) .

Lastly, it might be good to know if your DNSes are still affected by verisign's wildcarding "service" ( let's just "quote" this, since, well.. anyways...).

also check to make sure whatever hijacked you didn't edit your hosts file...probably did

Also check whether your in IE 'Internet Options' that the "allow 3rd party attachments" box is unchecked.

You can also install the Google toolbar -- it will (optionally) reset your search page to Google, which is probably better than the site that hijacked you.

You might want to take a look at:

Hi drimmer30

Post a hijackthis log and we can tell you what the hijacker is and how to get rid of it

Please Download hijackthis from

Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

After the scan has finished the "scan" button will turn into a "save log" button

save the log file and paste it here

Do not delete anything yet, as most things hijackthis finds are harmless and needed.

Are you trying to get to Google?
Is that phrase familiar? Are you trying to get to Google, but your browser shows you a page asking that question? This page? : < which looks like this :-

[.....]

Then I'm afraid you've contracted a Trojan, most likely this one ... < :-

What to do? (4 easy steps)

Your search engine URLs are probably being redirected in the hosts file.
