How do I set crystal 10 to display several groups on the one page when I use group by. In my report each group has only a few lines of data but is given a whole page.

In design mode right click on the group header > Format Section > New page after/before.

I am not sure which one you have selected but changing these will get you what you are trying to do.

Aside from the new page after/before concern, if you have large groups, an often overlooked function is to right click the group header > Change Group > and turn on the Repeat Group Headers on each page so that if a group breaks across a page, it gets a heading.

There's also a Keep together at that level, which will cause breaks, so you might want to turn it off as well.
