Hello,

When my ethernet network card is enabled I lose my wireless internet connection on just one of my 3 pc's ------ has anyone seen this before?

I have a Motorola WU830G 2.0 USB wireless g adapter. I have a pentium 3 500mhz pc with 128 ram (I know the ram is very low and the processor is slow and that the usb port is 1.0 compliant ----- but it should work). Motorola claims the adapter should work with USB 1.0.

I have 2 network adapters in all 3 pc's ---- One wireless and one ethernet. I am running winxp pro sp2 and did not download any security updates (on just this one problem pc) because it seemed to make my PC run very slow and lose internet connectivity ---- the microsoft patch helped a little. So I formatted and started again with/out the updates. So again my major problem is that when I have my ethernet network enabled my internet connection is lost wirelessly. If I disable my ethernet network I am able to get to the internet. I can't stand that issue. My other pc's do not have this problem and they can use both wired and wireless networks at the same time ----- but they have all the sp2 updates.

Is this an XP issue? Or a mobo problem because of its age? I am tempted to switch wireless adapters in my other pc just to trouble shoot ----- but the usb is so nice because you can move it around.

Thanks in advance,
Ericas

At this time, computers running Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 do not have the capability to automatically disable the wireless network adapter when the Ethernet adapter is plugged into a network and to automatically enable the wireless network adapter when the Ethernet adapter is unplugged. If you do not want simultaneous connections to both wired and wireless networks, you must manually enable and disable the connection to the wireless network, the procedure for which varies with different releases of Windows XP and Windows Server 2003.
