yup i suck...
i know,.. i know

I was wondering when do you use the file extension .aspx and .asp

if i remember correctly .aspx is used on the server
if that's the case if i save a file as [index.aspx] on my web server does that mean a machine accessing that file should type [index.asp]

I would like someone to explain the difference with [.aspx] and [.asp] and when do you use it??

Thanks in advance

So then,..

Does it matter which i use??

If you are writing ASP.Net code (e.g. C# or VB.NET), use .aspx; if you are writing serverside vbscript or javascript, use .asp.

They are different languages and the extension tells the server what language to expect (as the simplest explanation).

No the machine user would have to type index.aspx

But in actual fact they probably wouldn't.
index.asp(x)is a default document in IIS configurations so will be looked for and served out if found, when a browser tries to access the root (domainname.tld) or a subfolder (domainname.tld/folder/)
