System configuration:
Asus A7N8X deluxe, AMD Athlon 3000+, 512 megs of Corsair DDR 3200 RAM, WD
160 gig HD, Memorex CD RW, ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon.
Problem:
When connecting to my Linksys BEFSR41 cable router neither NIC on board
sees the connection, i.e., there's no access to the Net. All cables, the
router and the cable modem all worked fine in my previous configuration
and if I don't use the router I can connect. My other computer, the one
with the previously used 3Com NIC, also connects.
Can someone please help?
or any thoughts

Do an ipconfig /all while connected to the router and post the results here.

On your case, make sure that when you plug the cable, all the lights on the router should all be lit up!the ACT/Link,Full/Col and the 10/100 should be on.Then do what Bill suggested you to do.Do the IPconfig on the command prompt window. Then let us know.

yes do what is suggested. if getting 169.XXX.XXX.XXX or media state disconnected or media cable unplugged hard reset the router.. do ipconfig again post back what happens.

after you have done all of the suggestions and still doesnt work
Try to force your card to run on 10mbps half duplex
and still doest work
try assigning a static ip on your computer and try to ping your router

Hmmmmmmmm.. try reinstalling the driver of the network adapter....

thanks for all the help but i couldn't get it to work
have to think geting another router someday

Try changing cables or ports.
Be sure that there is a link light on the router and make sure that you are using a straigth through cable.

To verify that a port and cables is working:

Connect a cable from WAN Port to Port 1, if that port would light, you have working cable and port.

Try forcing the card to 10 half duplex.

If it still wasn't able to see the router, ask for a replacement.

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP
IT Looks like it only good as a switch now

time to get a new router !!!!!

I suspect a new router is not going to solve the problem.

Either the router is misconfigured, or your TCP/IP are misconfigured, or both.

Please post your IPCONFIG /all results when connected to the router.

You did make sure you haven't used port 5 next to the cable port as these are joined and should not be used together.
just move the lead over one space and see if that helps
Post back please I like to know if my info was useful
Kind thoughts
