When can you delete bff's

When is it safe to delete bff's from the /usr/sys/inst.images directory on an AIX 5.3 server?

I'd say after you've installed & commited the filesets, and/or you need the space. I'd be optimistic and assume you can always reach ibm over the internet and get them back if you ever needed them again.
