when Avaya phone is off,it still rings when the extension is called

Hello,

When Avaya phone is off,it still rings when the extension is called.
Does anyone know what setting can be done on IP Office to make the extension busy instead of ringing while the extension is unavailable.

Sorry, if the phone is off it will not ring!

do you mean if you call an extension that is not logged in it rings twice then goes to voicemail?

Yes when calling an extension that is not logged in, it rings twice then goes to voicemail,

the customer doesn't want that.

Customer wants it to make busy sound instead, to show the extension is not available.

They do not want it to ring at all.

I turned off voicemail,now it rings continuously even when logged off.

And customer wants a busy tone

If a user isnt logged in and has no voicemail turned on and no forwards set it will return busy tone.

There is nothing more I can say really.

Even analog phones can ring busy if you take the call waiting osption of.

yes, if there is another call in progress or they are off the hook
an unplugged analog ext will simply ring

Yes sorry IPGuru, I have never unplugged a phone to stop getting calls and it just didn't dawn on me that this is an option.
