Hi,

There are >16 Threads in this form on 'How to create MMS message with VFP'. Unfortunately in my country hardly nobody is sending MMS message anymore, they all use WhatsApp. How can I create a WhatsApp message using a VFP application?

You'd have to ask the makers of WhatsAPP.

From looking at the web references, WhatsApp is an Application, not itself a Technology.
It may have launched the use of a Technology, but it itself is not one - and I am sure that there are other competitive applications out there today.

Again, from the web references, I see that it is not using SMS technology for messaging, but what Technology IS WhatsApp using?

Once we understand that better we might be able to point you in the right direction.

From what I see at their site it's a closed system, an app letting you send messages similar to SMS or MMS via http, comparable to facebook, twitter, and all these other social media, concentrating on the private messages.

I don't see them mention an API on their main site, which would enable you could make sending whatsapp messages inside your application. Actually I find a news article stating the WhatsApp developers are striking down any attempt to provide such an API and enable usage of whatsapp with anything else but the whatsapp itself. See here:

Besides developers not welcome to add this as texting alternative to their apps, it also mentions the whatsapp protocol has serious security issues. Overall that doesn't sound like a good idea to make use of, even with the official app.

Thanks for all the info. It seems I shall have to wait untill these problems are solved. Meanwhile I notice the increase of (smart phone) users of this application and als notice the increase in percentage of the useres who exclusively use this application for text transfer.

People use useful stuff, they care too less about their security. It's just small texts and pictures. There surely are bigger riscs. I fear you can wait forever for this to be settled, the inventors of WhatsApp want this to be a closed system, even though they obviously have no experts on securing their protocol.

I shall have to convince the inventors of WhatsApp Messager that an implentation of WhatsApp in an office mail application will give it an anormous boost.
