Hello,

i'm using 3 scripts in the process of migrating standalone pc's into Active Directory at our site and there is a failure in one of the scripts that has become a showstopper, and would greatly appreciate your help in fixing the problem.

the first script renames the local profile to match the user's Novell username and it runs normally. its last step is to launch the second script which joins the pc to our domain and (supposedly) writes a RunOnce value to DefaultUser\Software\Microsoft\Windows\
CurrentVersion\RunOnce\. That value transfers the user's data after reboot, but the value isn't getting written to the registry (well, on some pc's it is, and on some it's not(!!??!!)).

The scripts were written by someone who is no longer with the department and as i'm new to scripting, finding where the failure has been impossible so far. If i post the code, would anyone be willing to take a look and help?

thanks,

on some pc's it is, and on some it's not
Probably a permission issue.
Your scripts should be run under a local admin account, doesn't it ?

Hope This Helps, PH.

thanks PH, i thought so too, but that doesn't seem to be an indicator. and yes, the scripts are being run under a local admin account. wish i knew more vbscript coding to examine the scripts . . .
