what's wrong with the network???HELP!!!!!!!!!

I have connected a printer via tcp/ip, but cannot connect it through novell,
It is a Sharp AR-407 Hi Speed Copier and printer.

My Novell server is 5.0, Frame type is 802.2;
the printer can get a IP address
from DHCP server.
But it shows the "Novell Inactive"

I configed the printer using Frame Type 802.3,It works fine in under another Novell server In different building.
that server frame Type is 802.2.

SO IS there any problem in Routering or SWitch??????

Well, if you are using TCP/IP, then the Frame Types of 802.2 and 802.3 don't apply. You will need to load ipx on your NetWare 5 server if you want to utilize those Frame Types. I'm assuming you are using legacy print services and not NDPS (Novell Distributed Print Services). If you are using NDPS, simply add the NDPS printer object and configure a gateway. (I don't know the print server model, but you can always use the Novell Gateway and choose IP, and enter your settings.) IF you have an HP, Lexmark, Epson, or Xerox print server, then you can load that particular gateway. It's actually not too bad. Let me know if you need any help.

If you want to run IP on the servers try frame type Ethernet_II. This will allow you to use both IPX and IP if necessary.

We have several of the Sharp AR-40x Printer/Copiers, and one gordian-knot sort of solution is to put an external HP JetDirect unit on the Sharp, and use JetAdmin to set everything up.
