What's version 9.0.3, required for E129?

I'm an absolute newcomer to IP Office admin, and have managed to get an E129 registered, but it won't make or receive any calls. We have 1608 phones working. I eventually noticed that the requirement for "IP Office Release 9.0.3" stated in the manual is ambiguous to me. When I run IP Office the splash screen says "Version 10.1.0.0.0 build 237". However, when I connect to the phone system it's labelled as "Type: IP 500 V2 Version 9.0.0.0 build 829". Am I right in thinking this latter version is the important one, and that's why I'm struggling? If so, how do I go about updating it, or is that beyond my abilities?

It requires 9.0.3 or later, and 9.0.0 is a horrible version so you better upgrade to latest 9.0 service pack anyway.
