A couple of examples:

The internal fittings, which are found on the outside...

The complete absence of light was dazzling in its brilliance...

The two phrases, words, snippets, etc cancel one another, or are mutually exclusive - is there a single word that describes this situation?

They also remind me of autoantonyms (but an autoantonym is a single word, not a phrase).

Oxymorons are a proper subset of the expressions called contradictions in terms. What distinguishes oxymora from other paradoxes and contradictions is that they are used intentionally, for rhetorical effect, and the contradiction is only apparent, as the combination of terms provides a novel expression of some concept, such as "cruel to be kind".

So the word I really want is "contradiction
