of the Oracle Database Operator Certification? Isn't this just 'DBA Lite'? Do companies really hire DBO's? If so, what kind of salaries can they expect to see? I know this is a lot of questions, but I just saw the certification path for the first time and was a little curious about it.

Thanks for any/all input.

Hi Perry,

I am also in the same list. I do want to take the Oracle database operator and don't know anything about it.

I couldn't be able to find any specified book or ILT .

Please let me know if U got to know something about it.

Oracle Education offers an DBO course, and I believe there is also an Oracle Press book available.

If I had to describe DBO, it would be exactly "DBA Lite"! I think having DBO certification could certainly be a discriminator if a company is looking for somebody to do lower level work on/with their Oracle database. It shows you at least have some basic knowledge about the RDBMS already - hence less training/expense involved in bringing you up to speed. As to how much you can expect for pay - who knows!? You might try some of the job listing services (dice.com, monster.com, etc) to see if you can find anything in this area.
