In my programming experiences I've always accessed\executed stored procedures from my programs. I can only imagine LINQ being useful for small\quick programs or web pages where you may not be using stored procedures.

Everything I've looked at involving LINQ just appears to be another way or writing inline queries. If I am wrong can someone set me straight?

Thanks

You can use linq on more than just a sql database which can be usefull for quick queries on objects, etc.

You can use LINQ on SQL, Entity Framework objects, other .NET objects, XML and more. It is extremely helpful in many ways.
