This was just stumbling around my brain today, and I searched but couldn't find anything.

The MS .Net framework has been around for a while now, and is already up to 3.5. version. I am curious if anyone knows or has heard if Microsoft is actively already researching / developing the next framework beyond .Net (whatever it might be called). Is there such a thing? Is there anything to read about it? Although I'm sure its fairly hush hush. Or do they plan to ride this framework for many many years...?

Anyway, just wondering and rumor mongering...

Good question.

For Windows 7, Microsoft has already developed a slimmed-down kernel call 'MinWin', with a view to reducing Windows' size and complexity.

What effect might that have on plans for the .Net framework, I wonder?
