Hi guys,

I have a server I have inhereited which is chronically short of space on its C: system drive.

I can see several installations of Watchguard Fireware (the earliest being 10.0.2, what happens when removing these and what effect will it have on the firewall?

Thanks

George

GeorgeTuk - there shouldn't be any reason to have any version of Fireware on the server unless you use the server to manage the firewall. Perhaps you should remove the Watchguard System Manager as well as fireware and install them on a different computer to that can be used to manage the firewall. Not really necessary to have System Manager/Fireware on the server if this is a viable solution (putting software on another computer).

Agree with adc110.

The only gotchas for me are - make sure you know the read only and read/write access, if you have config backups in the watchguard directory grab a copy.

Stick Fireware on the new box and point it at the firewall - I think last time I started off with the RO password only to make sure it pulled the config rather than pushing a blank one (unlikely anyway)

Firewall will work fine without.. you'll not be collecting logs and if you use any server related features they may be affected (webfiltering may not work, not sure on AV)
