Whats the difference with Internet Explorer for!!!!!!!!!

I support a java based program which is internet based(e-
banking)the program is writen to work with IE4 and up.
It works fine on desktop pc's with win 9x,2000 xp and so on,
but when I try to run it on a Imac OS 9 with IE4 or better it does nt work.I have ben told that it is the way the progranm is been interpreted by internet explorer for the Imac in so far as the program is written with java files instead of jar files. Is this so or am i doing somthing wrong. Help!!!!!!!!!
