What's the difference in Mercury 32/Mercury Loader programs?

just a quick one here from the stupid questions dept.

I've never messed with the Mercury Loader program and have always run the Mercury 32 but have just noticed that someone here's been using the mercury loader to start merc. and when they do, our email stops working correctly. Not using pmail. wondering if loader is for use with pmail.

The loader is used if you want Mercury to perform nightly maintenance (which includes restarting). The loader should just launch the regular Mercury. Is it possible that the paths are wrong? (Are they using a shortcut to loader.exe, or is it being launched from Windows Explorer while browsing in the default Mercury directory?)
