What is the main difference between SIP and H323 trunks and how many ports are there on each one?

Don't know the difference, but I use 323 and ports depend on Keycodes to a MAX of 60.

Only difference between SIP and H.323 is the signalling used between systems. It's a 1 for 1 ratio - one IP trunk is one IP trunk regardless of whether you use SIP or H.323

Currently SIP only works from BCM to BCM and is kind of rusty. You need to use H.323 when going from BCM to Meridian/CSE/CS1000.

SIP trunking to the CS1000 will be supported in BCM release 4.0.

Do we think either one of these will ever become standard?

SIP is where things are going - give it a few years and that will be the standard.
