I've just purchased a 308EC R3.0 and I just looked in my 5 slot carrier and the 308EC I currently have is an R1.0. What is the difference between these two versions? Is there any particular way they need to be installed in the carrier with a partner acs processor, a messaging 1.0 and the existing 308EC? Thanks in advance.

The R3 of the 308EC recognizes CNG tones to support Fax Group 8

To use the Fax feature of the phone system (not VM) a 308EC R# has to be in slot one

Thanks for the reply. The additional 308 is so I can run the fax lines throught the system so I'm glad I asked now.

So can I add my current fax lines to my telco rollover block of lines and use them for regular voice too? Will the system auto detect when an actual fax is coming through on those particulur lines and route it to the fax extension?

Note that auto detect only works when the automated attendant has answered the call - or a human that hears the beep beep CNG tone and manually transfers.

So, if I set up the fax lines (lines 7 & 8) as separate extensions (say ext 20 & 21) and then add lines 7 & 8 to the Telco rollover block. Could I use the DID mapping feature to send calls that DID with line 7 or 8’s telephone number to ext 20 or 21? If a voice call rolled over from line 6 to line 7, would that also be considered a did call and get transferred to a fax?
