Online research/comments seem to go a couple of directions. That is the consensus of you php guru's?

If one is currently using php v5.5 and plans to move to 7.x in the future, would there be any significant difference?

But based on the information at hand;

"escape" any 'special' characters (apostrophes for example) before storing and remove any escaping that was done when displaying the text in whatever form you intend to..
