I am needing something simple, effective and inexpensive to access a clients pc. He is wanting me to do maintenance to some databases on his pc in Texas and I am in Kansas.

What would be the best tool for that?

Thanks in advance....

I have been using "Remote Administrator" with great success, as well as our IT dept. that has a site licence.
I found the setup was easier than most.

I use Proxy from Funk Software ( Works through VPN, a dial-up connection and over a WAN. Screen refresh is quicker than VNC and it has the capability to print documents locally from the remote PC. Has file transfer between PCs as well.
