What's minimal install for SS 2005?

All I want to do is to create a few databases using Visual Studio 2005 or 2008 for Windows Forms and Web Sites.

I don't need anything else.

What parts of the install do I need?

It depends what databases you need.
If you want to use SQL Server then install SQL Server express that comes with both packages.
If not then you should install the server you want to use.

Sounds like all you need is SQL Server 2005 Express. It's free.

I have SQL Server 2000 and have been doing a lot of work with that.

I also have SQL Server 2005 developer edition.

I've decided to go with 2005 Express for now and go with minimal components.

It seems to be the the best thing to use with Visual Studio 2005 development since I was getting a lot of problems with the SQL Server 2005 developer edition. Like not being able to create databases within the development environment.

SQL Server Express is the way to go in your case unless this is a large website. SQL Server 2000 could get pretty expensive to license for the web.
