Whats causing these broadcasts?

Hi,

When doind a spot of traffic monitoring using the Etherpeek Demo, I noticed that there was a good few Ethernet broadcasts on our network. Any idea what these might be?

The source address in ascii always comes up as "OH!" plus a character or two... And some messages seem to contain the text "Validation PCI".

I have identified some of these packets as coming from Maxtor network drives.

Sorry that should read "V.a.l.i.d.a.t.i.o.n.P.C.I" where each "." is a zero byte.

More info please. What operatig systems are you using? What network protocols? Net work topology? Where on the network was the monitoring done?
