Whats best to use ASP or XML

were creating a performance monitoring cockpit site that will be referred to by the SPS portal....
I need help on which language to choose for the cockpit...

i do know that xml has greater advantage than asp or vbscript but i have no idea as in zero, zip, nada! on how to program and use xml!

XML is not a programming language. It's a way of representing text and data in a format that can be processed without much human or machine intelligence.

If you are using a web gui, you most likely will be using some form of ASP which, in turn, might use XML to move data around.
