I've been using jEdit lately, primarily because it's very expandable and because it supports a multitude of different languages (and as i switch between java, c/c++, and perl quite regularly, this is a huge necessity). however, i recently took a look at eclipse.. and i really like it; it's more intuitive, it's simpler.. it does a better job at automating tasks. however... i'm looking around to see if it has plugins for other languages... and it doesn't seem that it does. so now that i've been given a taste.. i'd like to see if there's a better editor than jEdit for multiple languages.

i'm sure some of you do more than just java; do you have any multi-language editors that you particularly like? (i'm limited to free IDEs at this point.) or is it possible to configure eclipse for other languages?

thanks, all.

IonFilipski,<br><br>i had mentioned that i had tried eclipse.. so i know where to get it.. i had asked however if you can configure it for other languages.<br><br>max,<br>jcreator's not free and it's not for multiple languages? so it's really the opposite of what i was looking for. <p>Liam Morley<br><A HREF="mailto:"></A><br>&quot;light the deep, and bring silence to the world.<br>light the world, and bring depth to the silence.&quot;

If you are using Linux you could use also Quanta+ and/or KDevelop. There also exist a good free IDE, but is only for Java, is SUN Java One Studio. It has possibility of visual editing of SWING/AWT/SWT frames, beans, HTML, XML and other type of components. Java ONE studio could be compared only with JBuilder by possibilities. I recommend it to people who has powerful computers, because it is written entirely in Java.
