Ok I'm going to spell out our situation.
We have a network that is basically in its raw form right now. We have 2 networks across our switched network. Giant double broadcast domains,I realize but vlans are something for later.
Currently we have a hub and spoke fiber gbic infrastructure with the Passport 1600.. and it works great.
For upgrading we were thinking of just jumping up to the 24 port passport 1600.. but here is why I'm asking you
currently if I cruze into the passport its configured to have an ip address on one of our networks. now what strikes me as odd... but really makes sense.. is that in the Address tables for the fiber switch it only shows users from the one network that it is configured for...
lets say I have a 10.x.x.x network and a 12.x.x.x network... its configured to be on the 10.x.x.x so it shows only the 10.x.x.x network
Now with that in mind it shuffles the packest for the other network just fine.. I'm sure they are in the table somewhere.. I just cant see them (I hope)
at this point there is no problem..
So do I go with a bigger 1600 passport or is there another product (nortel) that will do a better job going forward?
..as always I appreciate your help
