Hi,

Our DBA created a username and password in SQL Server specific for ODBC connection to be used by Crystal Reports 10.

I created several Crystal Reports 10 using the specific username and password to connect to the database used by the reports.

These reports are called from a 3rd party ERP application. This ERP application passes the parameters to the reports and the report gets generated.

Now, our IT Manager would like to change the password since the account has been compromised.

My question is, if the password is changed in SQL Server:

1) Do I have to update all the ODBC password in all the Crystal Reports?

2) Or, Do I only have to change the password from the ODBC Data source Administrator (Control Panel)?

3) Is the connection string embedded in Crystal Reports?

4) If so, Is there a way to see the ODBC connection string in Crystal Reports?

Thanks

Mike

Sadd to say,, but yes I believe you have to change the password, every where it is used. We are on XI, but if the ODBC password changes,, I have to change all the reports, one at a time. If someone has a way around this. I would also be interested in a "how to".

Hi,
In the Administrative Tools panel on the left of the Admin page of BOE, there is a tool ( Schedule Manager in XI R2) that can change an entire folder's set of reports to use a new database connection ( including server, user and pass - or any combo of those) -

Think you'll find that any recurring schedules won't have their login details changed - used to happen in 10, not sure if still the case today.
If I root around, I'm sure I can find the code that fixes those too ...........

Yes, that is still the case. You will have to reschedule any recurring schedules in order to use the new login.

A computer only does what you actually told it to do - not what you thought you told it to do.
