What version of Illustrator do I have to own to install CS2?

Hi

After about 8 years I have finally decided to upgrade my Adobe Illustrator from version 8. All my other Adobe software is CS2, Indesign, Photoshop etc. I don’t use Illustrator a lot but the time has come.

I went to the company web site and found that I can't upgrade to CS3 unless I have at least Illustrator 10 installed or registered.

Many retailers are still selling CS2, but they don’t specify which version it will upgrade from and the Adobe site doesn't list it anymore so I can't find out from there.

I’d settle for CS2 if I can install it; does anyone know the answer?

I believe Adobe started the limitation to upgrade with CS3. CS2 should upgrade from any version.

However, authorized sellers of Adobe software should be only selling the current version. Be careful that the vendor that you see selling CS2 is not selling an unlicensed/pirate copy.
