Hi there

I have a root cron job that creates a file and in the same script (later on) it deletes it ....however the delete command returns a "permission denied"

Does anybody know why this is ? ...is my cron job running as another user and not root ???

cheers

That's very odd, naturally the job should run as 'root'. Does the file have any strange permissions? Is it on local storage or NFS?

You mean the "[tt]rm[/tt]" command don't you?

Can you supply the actual error messages that were generated? Can you supply an "[tt]ls -l[/tt]" of the file that won't go?

It's possibly the umask setting which is causing the problem, setting the permissions so that deletion isn't possible.
