I need to encrypt some files from my linux server before I send then to someone, and this someone has given me his pgp key. It appears this key was made with pgp 7.0.1 (not sure if that matters.) What I need to know is what do I need to install on my linux server to encrypt the files with this key. ie pgp 8.0 gpg gnupg etc . Preferably I would like some freeware or cheapware (my own word).

Thanks.

PGP can be found for free at You can find many resources there to answer your question.

If you are given a pgp (public) key, you will need to have pgp installed to correspond with your colleague.

Install any of the free versions from the website above.

Good luck.
