What to upgrade to stop hanging

I'm running a PC with dual 3gb processors, 1gb memory, a quadra4 XGL 750 (128mb) and a harddrive that could fit the sky into yet working on some intense and complicated 3D drawing (solidworks2003) it hangs big style also takes forever to save and occasionally crashes.

Been looking through the threads and now thinking i wouldn't need to upgrade the graphics card, should i look at upping the machine memory to stop the hang?

Does the software actually support dual processors?
