I've been tasked with figuring out how to create reports using SQL 2012. This is new to our team and me of course so please excuse the potentially stupid questions\comments. I have found out the following and would appreciate any feedback\corrections\additions:
[ul]
[li]There is Report Builder and Report Services and both run on SSRS which is located on the server (or is Report Services actually SSRS and doesn't have to be installed on the server only?)[/li]
[li]Report Builder is basically for ad hoc stuff and can be used by the users (hopefully)[/li]
[li]Being developers we should be using Report Services as reports can be pretty elaborate[/li]
[li]Since we're going to be using Report Services we want to install SSDT on our machines (it does not have to be installed on the server only)[/li]
[ul]
[li]If the above is true, SSDT is a free tool we'll need to install on our machines.[/li]
[/ul]
[ul]
[li]We use the cloud so our provider will have to install SSDT for us to use on our PCs[/li][/ul]
[li]When we publish reports they'll appear on a generic looking web page available to the users[/li]
[ul]
[li]Is this the Web Services Page?[/li]
[li]Can we create a separate web page(s) that look more professional than the generic one?[/li]
[/ul][/ul]
thanks for any assistance.
