Following recommendation from this forum (thank you), I purchased a wireless headset, plantronics CS50, for our operator. I plug the headset to the 7316E phone headset jack, made sure the handsfree is AUTO (for some reason it does not show STD on that phone? only AUTO and NONE). Restart the system. When I push the headset button on the phone, it display "need headset". But under the phone capacities, there is no such thing called headset.

What should I do to enable when the wireless phone button pushed, it always answer by the headset, not the handset?

Thanks for your help!

There is no headset enabling on a norstar just plug the headset into the headset port on bottom of phone. Also
may need to set handsfree to none. Also there may be a compatablilty issue Call plantronics and ask if this headset is compatable with norstar. Remember this headset requires an HL10 lifter.
Calling plantronics is your best bet

Thanks for your help. I tried to set the handsfree to none, but it does not switch to the headset, it is always the handset answering the call. I did put the lifter there and it is functioning. The problem is phone does not use headset, unless each time after the handset lefted, pushing on the headset button.

The purpose of this wireless headset is allowing the attendant to working on copier or other things while the phone is not busy. If she has to push the headset button everytime, it is pretty much useless. I am sure there is something I did not configure right. The headset CS50 was for Norstar, according to the seller...

The headset Jack only works with certain headsets. Try plugging the one that you have into the Handset jack and then plug the handset into the Headset base.

If you are using a Plantronics headset you will need a polaris cord (i think that is what you call it). This quick disconnect cord is made specifically for Norstar phones.

The CS50 works great on the Norstar... Do not use the headset plug on the phone, unplug the handset from the phone and plug it into the CS50, plug the CS50 into the handset jac on the t7316, lift the handset of hook and press the button on the CS50 headset. If you have a handset lifter plug that into the CS50 base. Position the lifter close to the top of the handset(i find that works best) Even if you don't have a lifter you can answer the phone remotely by leaving the handset off hook and press the release button.
Hope this helps, I have a CS50 on a CICS and love it!!

Normate headsets work great! From Norelco Telecom.
Or even Headworks.
Make sure in programming it has Handsfree capability set to yes.

see ya

Thanks for all your replies! I got it work by swapping the handset and headset plug. Interesting enough that 7316E immediately consider the handset the headset! Don't know why Plantronics can not make 7316E realize that is a headset.

Now it works, we will see how far the receiptionist can travel in the office....

On a CS50 set the adjustment to 2 on the dial on the left side. Then you have to press the on button on the headset, only then will the Norstar see the headset.

I tried change the dial, it does NOT make any difference. So I went back use the headset in the handset location....
