Hi there

I have a backup script that runs every night and for some reason ive been getting in in the morning and the process has died, Is there any way I can tell when it died? if not .....would anybody recommend some scripting that i could do that would be able to tell me this information

Cheers

Redirecto the output of the job to a log file somewhere, and stick a date command at the beginning and the end of the script.

I'd guess if it dies it possibly never reaches the end, so the end date/time wouldn't be written to the log. Perhaps one way around this might be to include a portion of script to write to a log file every n seconds whilst it is alive so that at least, if the process dies, you can see approximately what time it did so.
