What the heck is this? Anyone?

I get this error message in a text window every time i boot my Dell Inspiron 5000:

Fun eh? I notice that the last line states: S3 Driver Memory Allocation Failed.

I know this refers to video (S3 Virge most likely right?) except that this system uses the ATI RAGE Mobility vid card.

it doesn't seem to affect system performance, so beyond being confusing and just down right annoying, not really a critical problem, but i still want to make it go away.

any help appreciated.

Actually I've seen this behavior associated with the kak virus that affects e-mail. Check your system for viruses and specifically the kak virus. The kak is a difficult virus to remove as it takes several steps to remove completely. There is a great little utility that somebody wrote called the "Kak Cleaner". I had a whole shop full of infected machines (and the message you describe appeared on one of them). I used this utility and it solved the problem.

I too think it is a virus and here is the link to clean it, if it is in fact a virus on your computer. If not, no harm done, at least it will be gone if there is.
